Holy cow. I can't even put into words how excited I am right now! I have been wanting to do this for years. My high school never allowed us to have "unnatural" colors in our hair. I am starting college super soon (like a week and a half...crazy) therefore I wanted to start this new chapter of my life with a bang.
Disclaimer: If you don't like it, I don't really know what to say except for the fact that it's not your hair.
Anyway, I wanted to share the process (which was long and involved quite a few steps) with you all. I am not (nor do I pretend to be) a professional hair stylist. This was just my experience.
For anyone wanting to get something similar or are just curious, this was my inspiration picture:
First of all, the color that I started with was a dark red.
I then had it bleached twice to take the color out of it and ready for the bright, fun colors.
Fun Fact: It took a whopping NINE bowls of bleach to cover my entire head. According to my stylist, the average person needs maybe two. WOW!
The bleaching sessions were roughly two weeks apart. I will say, I wish I would have waited a bit longer, but as my brother's wedding is steadily approaching, I was on a bit of a time crunch.
Then, it was finally color time! I took a few photos during the process.
AND HERE IS THE FINISHED PRODUCT!!! OMG!! I love it so much!!
It will fade with washing, but that just means it will last longer.
Also, I had to go to two separate salons to achieve my goal color. I advise you to do your research about what products your salon uses. For anyone wondering, the bleach was Aveda and the color was Prevana.
Thank you so much to Kylee at Elixir Salon and Christopher and Ulta for creating a masterpiece. I finally feel happy in my own skin. <3
